Darwin Espinal buries another gorgeous shot, scoring in his third match in a row
The Kickers (3-3-0, 9 pts) fell 1-2 to FC Naples. After two early Naples goals, Darwin Espinal answered to lead the Kickers push just before the half but Richmond’s continued drive just didn’t find the back of the net again in the second half.
Naples would score in the 7th minute to find their way into the lead off a corner kick attempt that fell luckily to their feet off the cross bar and went in.
The Kickers would push back, making several builds up the pitch but a chippy Naples team would stay on the offensive even in defensive moments.
Naples would go on the counter in the 22nd minute and breakthrough a second time before the squads would head into the half.
In the 35th, Maxi Schenfeld won the ball again and sent a crisp pass to Darwin Espinal in the middle third of the attacking half. Espinal received the ball and took off. In a blur, he shook off his defender and found his way to hit a shot he’s seemed to become famous for, just outside the top of the box. Sending a curling ball around the keeper and into the top corner, Espinal put the Kickers on the board.
The Kickers would hold the Naples attack back through the final whistle, refusing to allow them to score again. Building successfully several times, the Kickers just couldn’t find the back of the net again.
