News and Notes:
2022 PLAYOFF RIVALS SQUARE OFF: The rivalry between Richmond and Chattanooga in 2022 was one of the tightest matchups across the league.
In the regular season, Richmond earned a 1-1-1 record, earning the edge over Chattanooga with a plus-2 goal differential after a 3-0 victory at City Stadium on June 1, 2022.
At Chattanooga, the Red Wolves took the first matchup in April 2022 with a 1-0 victory. The teams would draw 2-2 at CHI Memorial Stadium in September 2022.
The Red Wolves took the edge in the overall season series a month later with a 1-0 victory at City Stadium in the 2022 USL League One Semifinals ending Richmond’s playoff run.
Saturday’s matchup marks the first time the two teams have met since that playoff semifinal.
KICKING OFF THE SUMMER AT CITY STADIUM: Richmond is set to play four home matches between June 3rd and July 1st, kicking off the summer in a similar fashion to the 2022 season when the Kickers played four home matches at City Stadium in the month of June. The Kickers were 3-0-1 at home in June 2022.
The Kickers will celebrate Military Appreciation Night presented by Tech For Troops on June 3rd before celebrating Pride Night presented by Black Pride RVA and VA Pride on June 17th, First Match of the Summer Night on June 24th, and the Red, White, and Roo Celebration with fireworks on July 1st.
SEEKING GOAL NUMBER 50: USL League One’s all-time leading goalscorer and the Kickers’ third-ranked all-time leading scorer is on the brink of reaching 50 goals for the club.
After compiling 45 goals in his first three USL League One seasons and three more goals during the 2022 and 2023 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup runs, Emiliano Terzaghi notched his first league goal of 2023 against South Georgia Tormenta FC, last Saturday — bringing his total tally to 49 goals.
Terzaghi sits behind club legends Matthew Delicâte (94) and Rob Ukrop Jr. (64).
Next Home Match:
The Kickers’ next home match is set for June 17th when they host Henny Derby rivals, Forward Maidson FC, for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The club will host Pride Night presented by Black Pride RVA and VA Pride! Get your tickets now before we sell out!
