RICHMOND, VA – (Tuesday, September 30, 2008) – Former Richmond Kickers Elite forward Olivia Moore was recently named the Big South Women’s Soccer Player of the Week as a freshman at Virginia Military Institute (VMI). The honor follows Moore’s remarkable showing last week, netting four goals, of which three came in VMI’s 5-0 win over Delaware State on Sunday.
Recording her second hat trick of the season, Moore notched three straight tallies against the Hornets in an eight-minute span. One game prior, the 5’3” forward led VMI to their first-ever win over Liberty, adding a goal to the 2-0 scoreline. Her first hat trick of the season over South Carolina State earned Moore VMI Athlete of the Week honors for the week ending September 17th. Now ranked 13th in the country in scoring, the freshman has accrued nine goals and two assists in nine appearances. Matching a school record by recording a point in four straight contests, Moore’s nine goals are the second-most by a Keydet freshman in school history while her 20 points also stand as fourth-most in a single season by a Keydet.
A native of Powhatan, Virginia, Moore was named Second Team All-State and Second Team All-Metro by the Richmond Times-Dispatch as a senior at Powhatan High School.
