RICHMOND, VA – (Thursday, June 29, 2006) – Richmond Kickers U18 Elite and Super Y-League player, Roger Bothe recently received another accolade for his outstanding soccer ability, earning 2006 Virginia State High School Soccer Player of the Year honors. Honored for the second consecutive year, Bothe received this award last year for his superior defensive play with Thomas Dale High School.
Bothe was selected as the Gatorade 2005-06 Virginia Boys Soccer Player of the Year earlier this year after leading his team to the first state title in the history of Thomas Dale High School.
Joining the Richmond Kickers as a freshman, Bothe cited quality coaching as his main draw to the club, commenting “I knew the coaching staff with the Richmond Kickers could really develop my abilities as a player.”
Having recently committed to play at The College of William and Mary, Bothe credits the Richmond Kickers College Guidance Program and Assistant Coach Jesse Myers with helping commence his collegiate career, stating “I look forward to continuing my soccer career at a great school and I think it would be great to come back to Richmond after I graduate from William and Mary to play again for the Richmond Kickers as a professional.”
