2008 COLUMBUS DAY TOURNAMENT (26th Annual)

WHERE


With over 250  teams expected, outstanding competition will be played throughout the metropolitan area of Richmond, Virginia.

WHEN

Columbus Day Weekend (Saturday, October 11th, and Sunday October 12th, 2008)  NO GAMES ON MONDAY!

Competition begins after 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 11th, 2008  Competition concludes approximately 6:00 PM on Sunday, October 12th, 2008

*A $100.00  performance bond has been included for all teams over the age of U16.  This performance bond will be returned upon the completion of the tournament (teams must appear and play all matches assigned to be eligible for the return of the performance bond).  The automatic email response after completion of the online registration will request at $650.00 check payment from all teams U16 and older. 

Payment must be made by check with team id # indicated on check. Check must be received within 10 days of online application date.

Boys & Girls: U19, U18, U17, U16, U15, U14, U13, U12 (8v8), U11 (8 v8), U10 (7 v 7) , U9 (7 v 7)

Players must be born in the year of their age group classification or in a later year.

WHO

  • All teams must be affiliated with their appropriate governing soccer associations. Teams from outside of Region I must have a copy of the permission to travel form, signed by their association.
  • All teams must have current US Youth Soccer or approved organization Player Passes, or the appropriate National Association passes.
  • All teams must provide an official roster that includes all traveling players and team officials signed or stamped by the appropriate registrar.
  • Teams that are members of organizations of the United States Soccer Federation but not members of US Youth Soccer (such as AYSO, SAY, US Club Soccer or Super Y Leagues) DO NOT have to have a US Youth Soccer Application To Travel form (although that team’s organization may require that the team have permission). Such a team roster does need to be provided to tournament officials, however, along with current passes from its organization and a tournament roster listing guest players.
  • Any USYS State Association team within Region I that is accepted into a tournament in Region I does not need permission to travel papers. Permission to Travel is not required for participation in friendly games within Region I. Note is to be taken on the two states that have exceptions to this policy. (Connecticut & New Jersey Teams from outside the State of Virginia must have a copy of the permission to travel form, signed by their association.)
  • Recreation Teams must have recreation player passes and original roster signed or stamped by their club registrar. Recreation passes do not require a photo to be attached. Recreation players must have a medical release form which does not have to be notarized.

GUEST PLAYERS AND ROSTER SIZES

U09  -  U12 (14 players); 4 guest players
U13 -   U15 (18 players ; 5 guest players
U16 -   U19 (22 players); 5 guest players *

*Teams with 22 players can only declare 18 players eligible per game*

Player passes authorized by the respective soccer associations shall be verified and compared with the approved state roster at team registration.  Passes and approved roster must be available for verification by match official prior to the start of match.


CHECK IN / TOURNAMENT WEEKEND REGISTRATION

Mandatory Pre-Tournament Registration is Friday, October 10th, 2008 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Ukrops Stratfod Hills.

Team Representative must have present at registration: 

  1. Original and 3 copies of team roster (Guest Players to be written on the bottom of a “Tournament Roster” which will then be photo copied 3 times and submitted. DO NOT write on the original roster as issued by your association!) Guest players must be carded and eligible according to the 2008 Tournament Rules.
  2. All player passes (USYSA, US Club Soccer, or Recreation passes).
  3. Permission to Travel forms if required (See rules).
  4. Medical release forms for all players. (Your league forms are acceptable.)  Medical release forms for each participating player must be presented at team registration. Medical Release forms do not have to be notarized.
  5. A Physician’s release must also be presented during registration for any player wearing a cast. (see cast rule) This release must be available for a match official to review. The final decision on whether the player may participate will be up to the match official.


Tournament T-shirt pre orders will be available to be picked up at Check In / Tournament Weekend Registration.

COMMUNICATION MEANS

For the 26th Annual Columbus Day Tournament, the primary means of accomplishing administrative functions will be via Internet and e-mail.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION

Application Deadline is September 5th, 2008.

Team Acceptance will be posted on Web site no later than September 10th, 2008. Confirmation of team acceptance will be emailed no later than September 10th, 2008.


NO REFUNDS WILL BE MADE TO TEAMS WITHDRAWING AFTER ACCEPTANCE.

HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS

The Richmond Kickers Youth Soccer Club offer several affordable options for teams and managers seeking hotel accommodations for tournament weekends. Although we strongly encourage all incoming teams to utilize these resources, teams may arrange their own accommodations. RKYSC will not be responsible for any fees incurred with Hotels due to any circumstances.

IMPORTANT NOTES (Tournament Cancellation Policy)

The tournament will do its best to schedule three (3) games for each team. However, if an unforeseen event such as weather or late dropout causes the cancellation of any game or all games, the tournament is not liable and no refund is guaranteed.  Please note;  RKYSC will carry event cancellation insurance for the 2008 Columbus Day Tournament.  We will do every thing in our means to refund as much of the registration monies as possible as it is the right thing to do in case of an event that may cause a complete cancellation of all games.
