Among the many spectators watching last night’s local Academy match between Real Colorado (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) and Colorado Rapids (Commerce City, Colo.), Bobby Muuss was one of the few with an objective view on the local rivalry that saw U-17/18 Real Colorado pick up a 2-0 win over the Rapids. Muuss was on assignment from Development Academy Director of Scouting Dave Sarachan to evaluate the Academy teams and potentially identify the next crop of National Team players. [+]

The Richmond Kickers Destiny (W-League) enter their fifth season and are pleased to announce the return of 11 key players to the 2008 squad including Carter Blair, Sarah Curtis, Kylie Davies, Mary MacKenzie Grier, Lauren Hardison, Sarah Hilt, Chantel Jones, Sarah McAulay, Caitlin Miskel, Michelle Schuler and Amanda Stewart, all pending USL/USSF approval.  The Destiny also welcome newcomers Kristin Lescaleet, Molly McKeon and Kathleen Russell, who are former Richmond Strikers youth players, all pending USL/USSF approval.  The Destiny open the 2008 season this Sunday, May 18th when they host the Carolina RailHawks.    [+]

Despite the weekends’s weather conditions the Kickers Youth Elite Teams were still able to shine brightly.   There is plenty of reason to be excited as the U13 Boys joined the U13 Girls by advancing to the State Cup Final Four with a dramatic penalty kick victory over Beach FC.  In other quarterfinal action the U12 Girls matched up against an extremely tough Northern Virginia Majestics team and bowed out by a score of 2-0.  In VCCL play, the Kickers went 4-1-1 versus the Strikers before lightning brought an abrupt conclusion to the contest. This weekend’s performance now leaves the Kickers in a tight race with SOCA for the VCCL Championship.

 

The Richmond Kickers announced today plans to extend their partnership with Midlothian Youth Soccer League (MYSL). MYSL merged their travel program with the Kickers in 2000 and have since been a vital source of aspiring travel players for the Richmond Kickers. [+]
